Cellular and/or Light concrete consists of cement, water, aggregate and air voids. Cellular concrete can have between 10% and 70% air, which results in a material that is lightweight with dry density less than 1900 kg / m³ and greater than 150 kg / m³, whereas normal concrete have a density ranging from 2300 to 2500 kg / m³..

ECOFOAM – Foaming Additive Concentrate : This line of additives produces high-density, strong and durable foam, maintaining the structure of nano and micro air bubbles when incorporated in the mixture during homogenization. It allows to produce Cellular Concrete, Lightweight Concrete, Lightweight Mortar, Cellular / Lightweight Plaster, in various densities (150-1600 kg/m3) and resistances.

ECOFOAM-AIR Used to produce foam with a foam generator . A foam generator is a specialized equipment that enables to produce dense, uniform, homogeneous and durable foam that can withstand the aggressive forces when mixed with cement and sand in a mixer; usually includes devices to control the quality of the foam – density, moisture and resistance.

ECOFOAM-MIX Used to create foam by mechanical agitation. Typically a static or portable mechanical stirrer, which operates similarly to a blender or mixer, can be used to produce a foam which then is added to the mixer.

ECOAIR-MIX – Air Incorporator : Liquid Additive ready for use, intended for the production of lightweight concrete (1600-1900 kg/m3), incorporating innumerous micro/nano air pores (<0.4 mm diameter) into concrete and mortar . ECOAIR-MIX must be added to the mixing water before or during mixing. Due to the effect of micro-pore air, concrete produces very easy to cast and dense and can be used with machined or produced in concrete work.

ECOAIR-MIX Air Incorporator and Plasticizer, chloride free, destined to produce concrete containing inumerous micro/nano pores, stable, elastically deformable and evenly distributed. ECOAIR-MIX is added to the maixing water in a proportion of 50 to 200 ml per 100 kg of cement.

ECOAIR-MIX + Highly concentrated Foam Additive, providing high air entrainment and dimensional stability, exceptional workability and thermal and acoustic insulation. With an initial dosage of only 100 ml per 1000 liters of concrete or mortar, ECOAIR-MIX + provides up to 30% entrained air and excellent flowability.

The air-entraining can be formulated with various basic raw materials: abietic acid, alkyl aryl sulfonated salts, fatty acids, etc. ..

These are ionic, organic or synthetic surfactants, characterized by long carbon chains, which reduce the surface tension of water.

The anionic character of the “incorporators” leads to the dispersion of fine substances, including cement, fluidizing and heavily plasticizising the mix, thanks to the formation of large amounts of air bubbles repelling each other due the same polarity of their loads on their surfaces.

This leads to concrete with lower cement consumption greater plasticity, impermeability and resistance to chemical attack of aggressive waters, in addition to lower segregation and oozing.

The microbubbles have a continuous grading curve, whose area covers the cement and fine sand. They allow greater cohesion between aggregates and cement, avoiding segregation and oozing during transport and release.

The microbubbles generated by developers are repellent to each other, and when two of them collide during mixing, do not result in greater, as in concrete without additives. They also decrease the surface tension of the water and facilitate the rolling entrre cement and agreados. Confer greater homogeneity and plasticity to concrete.

The plasticity conferred reduces the amount of water without impairing the original workability. The dash needs to be redosado, considering that, in general, 1% entrained air is equivalent to a reduction close to 2.5% of water and 20 kg of fine sand per cubic meter. However, usually for each 1% of entrained air, it requires more than 8% of cement to compensate for the loss of strength.

Since they do function fine in a close range of particle size of the cement, the air-entraining also possible to reduce the cement that has the function of binder, but the thin cited.

The reduction in water / cement ratio and the fact that there is continuity between the air bubbles, which in turn disrupt the network of tubules formed by evaporation of the mix water, helps in achieving a waterproof concrete.

This reduction also compensates for the reduced resistance caused by increased incorporation of air. However, it is necessary to control the volume of entrained air because, being excessive, can lead to significant decreases of resistance.

Factors influencing the volume of entrained air::

  • Amount of fines substances in the mix. Over 300 kg/m3 (including cement) the incorporation of air is restricted by too little space for bubble generation.
  • Proportion of water in the mixture. The drier the mix, the less air is introduced.
  • Temperature: inversely proportional to the air. Typically high temperatures reduce the formation of micropores.
